Absolutely. And it really is a challenge. With sermons to write, Bible studies to prep for, shut-ins to visit, etc., keeping one's mind active in theology is hard.

Here's what I try to do: always have a side project going, something to focus the mind on a topic, to lead you in a direction. A good way to do this, is to look around for local or national conferences and write papers for them. You'll get turned down a lot, but that's not really the point. The point is to give direction and focus to your studies. And occasionally you'll get accepted and maybe even turn that conference paper into a published paper.

There's also the simple trick of putting CTQ and CJ in the throne room. . .
